Richard Mockler is an experienced producer, shooter, writer and editor of factual television based in Sydney, Australia.
He is currently a producer shooter on ABC TV's national current affairs program 7.30 with Sarah Ferguson.
Richard has worked as a producer shooter on the ABC TV’s national arts show Art Works and as a freelance video journalist for The Associated Press (AP), producing TV features used by some 270 international media and broadcast companies. Richard’s stories have been picked up by Al Jazeera, Bloomberg, Euronews, CGTN and CTV.
In 2021, Richard was part of the team of three that developed and launched China Tonight, an ABC TV series hosted by Stan Grant exploring the issues, social trends and politics that shape modern China.
Previously, Richard spent five years pitching and producing stories for The Mix on ABC TV and co-developed and directed Throwback, a series of shorts that gathered some 7 million views online in 2018. Richard has also worked for Sydney-based production house Southern Pictures on long-form primetime documentaries, including Hawke, The Larrikin and the Leader (ABC 2018) and The Mosque Next Door (SBS 2017).
During 2019 and 2020, Richard worked in London for ITV on the breakfast program Good Morning Britain, and produced corporate films for Tin Pan Media for clients including IKEA, The British Muesum, Clyde & Co and Turner and Townsend.
Richard produced the Tropfest finalist film Great Day (2013), and directed Wild Things (2013) and Cranky (2014) – films both selected for the official program at Flickerfest, among other Australian and international film festivals.
Richard spent four years at Sydney’s FBi Radio where he produced Girls Gone Mild with Hannah and Eliza Reilly, and presented the late night lonely hearts program, Midnight Valentine.
Richard is a Premiere Pro and AVID editor. He is an experienced camera operator, familiar with a range of gear including the Canon C500 and the Sony Fx6.
